Freebird Campervan hire is a small friendly family run business, it has been running for over 15 years. It offers fully equipped beautifully refurbished classic campervans, providing you with a comfortable and safe place for your holiday or short break. We are pet friendly and can accommodate up to 2 (smaller) dogs.
Located in East Devon on the amazing Jurassic Coast and close to the borders of Dorset and Somerset makes it an ideal place to start your adventure. Cornwall is a very popular destination. Everyone is looking for that special experience to make their short break or holiday, one to remember. Whether you are seeking an escape to the coast or if you’re looking to head inland to start soaking up the beauty of the countryside or moorlands, our vans are ready and waiting to start you on that journey.
We take pride in maintaining our vans to an extremely high standard. With an original look from the outside, each is fitted with more modern and retro style of interior. Including items such as fridges with freezer compartments, electric hook up, LED lighting, USB charging points and of course many safety items.
Although the campers are classic vehicles and offer a different driving experience compared to modern motor vehicles, it doesn’t take long to get to grips with the relaxed way these great Volkswagen campervans drive. With a slightly elevated position, before you know it you will be looking at the view ahead and waving to other classic campervans as they pass by on the other side. Being not much bigger than a normal family car they are perfect for exploring.
OUR CAMPERVANS
We have three 4 berth campers with full width rock and roll beds along with small doubles in the elevating roofs and Campo who’s a spacious 2 berth. All are VW bay window campers with manual transmission. They have smart electrical systems installed which means the fridge, LED lighting and USB charging points automatically switch between power sources, meaning you can stop in some stunning locations without the worry of plugging into the mains. For those looking to stay in one place for a longer period, the campervans are fitted with mains hook up. They have two ring gas hobs fed by a small gas cylinder stowed in the gas safety locker.
Keeping you safe is a priority; even though exempt (after 40 years of age) we still have them MOT tested annually. The gas and electrics are tested and certified yearly. We fit all our vans with carbon monoxide, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. Seat belts are also fitted in each van.
WHATS INCLUDED
In summary, we provide all the key essentials to get you started on your VW adventure. Your just need to bring, food, drink and bedding, we’ve got the rest covered. Listed below are some of the key items included:
- Insurance for main driver, breakdown & recovery for peace of mind & spares kit.
- Membership to both the Camping and Caravanning club and also Caravan & Motorhome Club whilst hiring our campers.
- Gas for cooking and all the basics from cutlery & utensils, plates, pans & kettle to washup kit and small heater.
- Two camping chairs and folding coffee table.
- Hook up lead and 2 levellers.
- A complete hand over so you are familiar with your chosen van.
Extra’s you can add at the time of booking:
Extra driver, pets, awning or shelter, additional chairs, larger table, portable toilet, and we consider bespoke requests as well if required such as bedding packs. Just drop us a message.
PRICES
We offer 3-, 4- and 7-night breaks starting from £425 for a 3-night break.
Our change over days are Mondays and Fridays.
Our campervans are permitted to travel throughout Dorset, Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall – the latter being a favourite destination for most hirers.
